Running the Society
The Hellenic Society is run by the HellSoc-Committee, comprised by 7 committee members. Each Committee member has a specific responsibility, such as organising events, arranging sports activities or promoting the society and its aims. The Executive Committee is accountable to the Leeds University Union, so it has to abide with the Societies' regulations and guidelines of the Leeds University Union.
The supreme organ of the Hellenic Society is the General Assembly, members of which are automaticaly all active members of the society. Each academic year there is an Annual General Meeting and elections held once. Any active member may stand for a HellSoc-Committee post, although there are certain restrictions (according to the Hellenic Society's constitution) for those willing to stand for the Executive Committee. Members of the Executive Committee (i.e. President, Secretary, Treasurer) have to be registered active students at Leeds University.`
The Annual General Meeting and the elections for 2008-2009 were held at the end of October 2008 at Parkinson building. This society needs lots of enthusiastic people to run, so do contact us at luu.hellenic@leeds.ac.uk if you would like to get involved!
